Shaun Alexander - Seattle Seahawks
 Shaun
Alexander has done two things very consistently during his
career: set lots of records and score lots of touchdowns.
Alexander will definitely be looking to make his way back
into the record books and into end zones after a 2006 season
that was hindered by a foot injury.
Shaun Alexander, who played college ball at Alabama, was
the Seahawks number one pick in the 2000 NFL Draft. Alexander
started turning heads in the 2001 season, especially in
a Sunday Night game against the Oakland Raiders where he
set a franchise record of 266 rushing yards. A few other
records that Shaun Alexander set were scoring five touchdowns
in one half of a football game and, at the time, the single-season
touchdown record in the 2005 season where he made it to
the end zone 28 times.
After leading the NFL in rushing yards and touchdowns,
earning league MVP, and playing in Super Bowl XL, Shaun
Alexander earned the honor of being featured on the cover
of Madden 07. Whether it was due to the curse or not, Shaun
Alexander suffered a foot injury that kept him out of six
regular season games. Alexander missed the 1,000-yard mark
for the first time since his rookie season, and he saw his
yards-per-carry average drop. In the late parts of the season,
the 2005 Shaun Alexander started to resurface. Alexander
rushed for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns in a week sixteen
loss to San Diego, and he rushed for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns
in the NFC Championship.
With the Madden curse behind him and a talented team around
him, Shaun Alexander should return to his elite status in
the 2007 season. Alexander may not score 28 touchdowns again,
but it would not be unreasonable for him to do so. After
all, setting lots of records and scoring lots of touchdowns
is what Shaun Alexander does best.
