Losman is a developing NFL quarterback who shows some promise.
Losman has had to overcome a lot of adversity through the
first three years of his career as many people considered
him to be a bust. The Bills traded up to be able to take
JP Losman as the 22nd overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft.
He didn't live up to his draft expectations at all until
he started to show some signs of improvement in the 2006
season.
JP Losman was named the starting quarterback of the Buffalo
Bills at the start of the 2005 season after the departure
of Drew Bledsoe. After a decent first start, Losman struggled
with his passing precision and was benched after only four
starts. Losman shared time at quarterback toward the end
of the season.
JP Losman took over as the Bills starting quarterback once
again for the 2006 season, and his numbers were the best
of his short career. He had a quarterback rating of 84.9,
throwing for 3,051 yards with 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
Losman also had a 62.5 completion percentage in 2006, the
best in his career. Losman's best game of the 2006 season
came in a week eleven win against Houston where he threw
for 340 yards and 3 touchdowns.
JP Losman has a lot of positives from the 2006 season that
he can build on in 2007. He also will now have a deadly
weapon in Marshawn Lynch in his backfield, which should
definitely open up the passing game where he can utilize
the great tools that Lee Evans has.
