Jay Cutler - Denver Broncos
 Many
analysts believe in Jay Cutler. Mike Shanahan and the Denver
Broncos believe in him too. Mike Shanahan believed in him
so much that he drafted Cutler in the first round after
Jake Plummer led the Broncos to a 13-3 season. Jay Cutler,
the 2005 SEC offensive player of the year, has a rifle-arm
and the ability to scramble. Shanahan put his money where
his mouth was last year when he benched Plummer in favor
of the rookie Cutler. Cutler would start the last five games
of the regular season.
Many people believed that the Broncos' selection of Jay
Cutler was meant to be a statement to then Broncos quarterback
Jake Plummer who struggled greatly in the AFC Championship.
The Broncos went with Plummer for their first 11 games,
but Mike Shanahan decided to go with the rookie with five
weeks left, even though the Broncos were still in playoff
contention.
Jay Cutler went 2-3 as the Broncos starting quarterback.
He threw for 1,001 yards, 9 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions.
One of Cutler's impressive feats from 2006 was the fact
that he threw 2 touchdown passes in each of his first four
starts.
The Broncos are sold on Jay Cutler for the 2007 season.
He may not have the best offensive weapons, but he plays
for a very meticulous offensive-minded head coach. Expectations
are high for Jay Cutler, but he has the tools to be a very
good NFL quarterback. 2007 will be the season where Cutler
proves what type of quarterback he will be.
