Adams could represent the next era of a Tampa Bay Buccaneer
defense that has created a tradition of greatness. Picked
with the 4th 1st round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the 6-5,
260-pound Adams has the athleticism to become one of the
NFL's greatest defensive ends. Gaines Adams has a sudden
burst off of the line and a quick arm-over move that should
enable him to get around lethargic blockers. He is also
very fast in pursuit and can change directions on a dime.
Gaines Adams played college football at Clemson. Adams
was voted unanimously as an NCAA first-team All-American.
In the 2006 season at Clemson, Adams recorded 12.5 sacks
in 12 games, he forced 2 fumbles, and he recovered 3.
Gaines Adams joins a defense with big names such as Derrick
Brooks and Ronde Barber. He will become a better football
player just by being around those two leaders. Adams will
also be the next big draft pick in a list of young Buccaneer
players such as Cadillac Williams and Michael Clayton. Adams
will improve the Buccaneers' defensive line with his quarterback-sacking
ability. In addition to his ability to put pressure on quarterbacks,
Gaines Adams will fit in well with the Buccaneers as he
chases down running backs.
