Fred Taylor - Jacksonville Jaguars

Taylor is not a household name among NFL running backs,
but he is one of the best-as long as he is healthy. Taylor
has played all nine of his NFL seasons with the Jacksonville
Jaguars, who selected him with the 9th pick in the 1998
NFL Draft. Taylor is 6th all-time in the NFL for his rushing
yards per game average. His biggest problem is that he hasn't
played in very many.
Fred Taylor has earned the nickname, "Fragile Fred,"
due to the many injuries that have plagued him during his
career. Taylor's health has always been a question mark
for him. In fact, when Tom Coughlin was the coach of the
Jaguars, Fred Taylor was marked as questionable for every
single game of one season.
Still, Fred Taylor has had some great seasons. In 2000,
Taylor rushed for over 100 yards in nine straight games.
Were it not for his constant injuries, Taylor would probably
be Hall of Fame material.
2006 was a productive year for Fred Taylor. He shared the
running load with Maurice Jones-Drew. Taylor carried the
ball 231 times, gaining 1,146 yards and scoring five rushing
touchdowns. Having Jones-Drew there to share the load is
a blessing for Taylor. He will not have to feel pressured
to be the go-to running back all of the time. Still, expect
Taylor to make the most of his carries and playing time
this season.
