Deuce McAllister - New Orleans Saints
 If
Reggie Bush is like lightning, then the other running back
for the New Orleans Saints, Deuce McCallister, is like thunder.
The 6-1, 232-pound punishing McCallister has shown that
he is a force to be reckoned with in the NFL. McCallister
is entering his seventh NFL season and is coming off of
a 2006 season that was both a personal and a team success.
Deuce McCallister's best NFL season came in 2003 when he
rushed for 1,641 yards. 2004 and 2005 were not as successful
for McCallister, and many thought that he was done in 2006
when the Saints drafted Reggie Bush. However, the Saints
did something that many NFL teams did in 2006; they featured
two running backs rather than choosing one go-to guy. This
worked well for the Saints as Bush was not the power rusher
that McCallister is and as nobody has the ridiculous open
field speed that Bush has.
While sharing the load at running back, Deuce McCallister
still led the Saints in rushing yards with 1,057. McCallister
also scored 10 rushing touchdowns for the Saints. McCallister
had an amazing performance for the Saints in their Divisional
Playoff victory over the Philadelphia Eagles; he rushed
for 143 yards on 21 carries and scored a rushing touchdown.
McCallister also scored a receiving touchdown in that same
game.
Deuce McCallister should be a consistent running back in
2007. He will probably see a lot of the short yardage and
goal line plays for the Saints. McCallister will definitely
be utilized, and he is a key component to a New Orleans
Saints offense that looks to repeat and build upon its success
from last year.
