Chris Chambers - Miami Dolphins
Chris
Chambers is still a big-play threat at wide receiver. Chambers
is entering his 7th season for the Miami Dolphins with a
lot to prove. After his first Pro Bowl season in 2005, Chris
Chambers struggled in the 2006 season. However, Chambers
has two tools, great speed and deceptive open-field moves,
which he can use to elevate himself back to All-Pro status
for the 2007 season.
Chris Chambers was drafted by the Miami Dolphins from Wisconsin
in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft. Chambers made
his presence felt immediately as a rookie with his big-catch
ability; his 18.4 yards per catch average was the best in
the NFL. Chris Chambers caught 11 touchdown passes during
his third year, and in the 2005 season, Chambers surpassed
the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career. His
2005 season totals were 82 receptions for 1,118 yards and
11 touchdowns.
The 2006 season was rocky one for Chris Chambers. The quarterback
position for the Dolphins suffered a lot of instability
due to changes and injury. Chris Chambers did not get a
lot of balls thrown his way from quarterback Joey Harrington,
who played the most games at quarterback for the Dolphins.
He caught only four touchdown passes and had only two games
with more than five receptions.
The 2007 season should be more promising for Chris Chambers,
as the Dolphins have finally invested in a proven quarterback,
Trent Green. Green is no stranger to big-play offenses,
and he will love having Chris Chambers as a downfield target.
Chambers will hopefully benefit from having a veteran quarterback
throwing him the ball.
