Jackson is ready to have a break out year for the New England
Patriots in 2007. The second-year, 6-1, 215 pound receiver
was a great college receiver and has made the most of his
opportunities with the Patriots.
Chad Jackson was drafted by the Patriots as the 36th overall
pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. Jackson had a remarkable junior
year at the University of Florida where he caught 88 passes
for 900 yards. Chad Jackson decided to forgo his senior
year and entered the NFL Draft.
Chad Jackson did not have big numbers in his rookie year
for the Patriots. This was due, partially, to a nagging
hamstring injury. In the 12 games that Chad Jackson played
he caught 13 passes for 152 yards. However, 3 of those 13
receptions were touchdowns. His longest touchdown reception
was a 35-yarder from Tom Brady in a week seven victory over
the Buffalo Bills.
Chad Jackson is expected to contribute more to the Patriots
offense this season. Tom Brady did not have a go-to receiver
last year after the departure of Deion Branch. This year's
additions of Donte Stallworth and Randy Moss may open up
opportunities for Jackson to display the star power he showed
at Florida.
