Carson Palmer - Cincinnati Bengals
 When
the Cincinnati Bengals drafted USC quarterback Carson Palmer
with the first pick in 2003, they were hoping that the 6'5,
230 pound Heisman Trophy winner would rescue them from a
decade of despair. Palmer has not let them down. In 2005,
his second year as a starter, he led the team to its first
division title in fifteen years.
Carson Palmer rebounded well in 2006 after suffering a
serious knee injury in the 2005 playoffs. Palmer threw for
4035 yards in 2006, the first Bengal to ever pass for over
4000 yards. He completed 324 of 520 passes with 28 touchdowns
and 13 interceptions. His QB rating was 93.9. He capped
off the year in the Pro Bowl, earning MVP honors.
Some bad luck, including a costly missed extra point against
the Broncos, kept the Bengals from the playoffs last year.
Carson Palmer has spent the off season working out with
his wide receivers, including Chad Johnson and TJ Houshmandzadeh,
to make sure that last seasons disappointments don't show
their ugly face again. Carson Palmer has proven he is a
durable player who doesn't give up and his leadership and
skill should keep the Bengals near the top in 2007.
