SuperBowl Thoughts
Well, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did it. They won the SuperBowl (as I predicted: 1-23-03: SuperBowl predictions) Let's see how I did with my predictions: Final Score: Tampa 23 Oakland 17: I got the winner right but was way off on the final score of 48-21 Passing Yards: Rich Gannon: 275 Amazingly close on this. Gannon ended up with 272 and Johnson with 215. Only off by 13 yards combined. Rushing Yards: Charlie Garner: 25 Not too close on this one. I was correct that neither back would have a good game but overestimated what they would do. Garner ended up with only 10 yards and Alstott had 15. Receiving: Jerry Rice: 9 for 85 yards and 1 TD Rice ended up with 5 for 77 and 1 TD and Johnson had 6 for 69. I was kind of close but not close enough to count it a success. Nobody could have predicted that Gannon would throw 5 interceptions. The Tampa secondary did a great job of watching and reacting to where Gannon threw the ball. Gannon should have seen that the secondary was watching him and not the receivers and gone to some pump fakes and double moves. Also the Tampa Bay line did a great job of pressuring Gannon and didn't give him much time to do anythign. Oakland could never get into a rythym and looked out of sync the whole game. A great game plan by Tampa and poor reaction by Oakland. Congratulations to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Great job.
